The most sustainable Colombian companies in the world

Standard & Poor’s Global published its 2021 sustainability index, which included 631 companies from around the world, including 14 Colombian companies that stand out for their commitment in this area.

The best performers were Grupo Bancolombia and Grupo Nutresa, which were awarded a «Gold Class» rating, followed by other companies that obtained a «Silver Class» rating, including Cementos Argos, Grupo Argos and Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana.

Celsia, Colombina and ISA were included in the «Bronze Class» category, while six other companies were included in the «Sustainability Yearbook Member» category: Davivienda, Banco de Bogotá, Almacenes Éxito, Ecopetrol, Terpel and Promigas.

Within each industry, companies with a minimum total score of 60 and whose score is within 1 % of the score of the best performing companies in their industry receive the «SAM Gold Class» award, S&P explains.

Companies whose score is at least 54 and within a range of 5 % to 10 % of the score of the best performing company in the industry receive the «SAM Bronze Class» distinction; while all companies that have been included in the yearbook, but have not received a medal distinction, are listed as members of the Sustainability Yearbook.
